Facial rejuvenation
More and more people are looking for new, natural and safe ways to improve their health and image. A study in The Journal of Clinical Acupuncture shares that, with cosmetic acupuncture, 90% of clients have marked improvement in their faces and experience an overall rejuvenation that lifts their spirit and does not confine itself to the face.
Many of our patients start with a focused rejuvenation package to kick things off, then return once or twice a month to support their new face. Like a monthly trip to the hair dresser or nail salon, it is a small, ongoing maintenance system that makes a big difference.
What to expect
Immediately after a treatment, you will notice a flushing of the face as blood runs into the tissues and rejuvenates them. This "flush" effect usually fades after an hour leaving the skin refreshed and moist.
Needle or not?
Dr. Schwan has developed two protocols: needle- and non-needle techniques.
Needle technique utilizes traditional acupuncture needles as well a modern electro stimulation techniques to rejuvenate the face.
Non-needle technique involves the use of a hand-held stimulator that does not penetrate the skin. This is followed by rubber buttons that are carefully taped to the acupuncture points and lightly stimulated with pulsed current. The choice of technique is left to the patient after consultation with the doctor.
The benefits of the needle technique is deeper stimulation, with the drawback of possibility of light bruising. The non-needle technique has no side effects, but may require more frequent treatments.
